Recap: TW.Wiki (since 2017)

Published by TimeWindow on 08-06-2024 in Blog

TW.Wiki or Wiki Nights or Spreekbeurtenavonden were small recurring events that became a staple at TimeWindow from the beginning. After the first two festivals, some members of the collective felt the need to organise a format to facilitate exchange of knowledge, without having to sell anything. As a counterpoint to the then-obiquitous pitch nights or Pecha Kuchas, they wanted to give anyone (inside and outside TimeWindow, artists and non-artists) the time and space to share an interest to a curious audience. It became a platform to meet likeminded people and to learn something new, without pressure to sell your work or yourself.

Dozens of Wiki Nights were held over the years, sometimes with variations such as PowerPoint Karaoke, watch parties for big tv-shows, and themed nights. Subjects that were covered were various, but some highlights are:

  • The Dramaturgy of The Sims
  • Nijntje
  • How to cheat at the Eurovision Song Contest
  • Extreme violence in 17th-century Dutch paintings
  • Singularity
  • Tilburg
  • The Apocalypse as imagined around the world
  • Monetary systems in medieval China
  • How to build Wikipedia
  • How to start a conspiracy theory

TW.Wiki was made by Katrien Ligt, Tommy Ventevogel, Ashley Boom, Marijke de Vos and Anne van de Wetering.
