About the residency
The theme of the residency is Radical Mindfulness. To explore this topic, we’ve invited a group of fascinating artists whose practices reflect and interrogate this concept.
Radical Mindfulness is a term borrowed from the Radical Mindfulness collective in London. It represents a contemplative practice aimed at collectively exploring consciousness and reality to drive meaningful change—standing in contrast to its commodified use as a stress-reduction tool in mainstream culture.
Our residency embraces this concept through playful interrogation rather than definitive answers. Here are some of the questions we’re exploring:
- How can informal communities of practice challenge capitalism and propose anti-capitalist alternatives grounded in mindfulness?
- Where do mindful principles align with, or diverge from, socialist and communist values?
- How does cultural appropriation shape the integration of mindfulness into capitalist frameworks?
The residency’s goal is to create a sustainable space for reflection, fostering a small community for ongoing research into Radical Mindfulness. This event marks a moment in this long-term journey, offering a glimpse into an evolving process rather than a flashy finale.
